Welcome to Wans ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect,
use, and protect your information when you use the Wans mobile application and related services
(collectively, the "Service"). By using Wans, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Username (required)
- Email address (required โ used for account recovery)
- Password (stored as a bcrypt hash โ we never store plain text passwords)
Profile & Activity Data
- Profile photo (avatar) you choose to upload
- Bio text you write
- Activities, completions, streaks, and challenge records you create
- Moments (text, optional photos, mood, location label) you share
- Memory jar entries you save
- Check-in mood and energy status
Partner Relationship Data
- Partner connection (username of the person you pair with)
- Shared activity records between you and your partner
Device & Technical Data
- Push notification token (to send you activity reminders and partner updates)
- Timezone (to correctly schedule daily activity resets)
- Device type (iOS / Android) for notification delivery
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To provide the core features of the app (activities, challenges, moments, memory jar)
- To connect you with your partner and share relevant data between you
- To send push notifications about activity completions, partner updates, and challenges
- To send a password reset code to your email when you request it
- To calculate streaks, points, and badge progress
- To improve the Service based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
We share data only in the following limited cases:
- Your partner: Activity records, completion status, moments, check-in mood, and streak data are visible to your linked partner โ this is the core purpose of the app.
- Expo (push notifications): Your push token is transmitted to Expo's push notification service to deliver notifications. See Expo's Privacy Policy.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
4. Data Storage & Security
- All data is stored on our secured server and MySQL database.
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text.
- Password reset codes expire after 15 minutes and can only be used once.
- Uploaded images (avatars, moment photos) are stored on our server filesystem.
- We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal
data (profile, activities, moments, memories) will be permanently deleted from our servers within
30 days. Aggregated, anonymised statistics may be retained.
6. Children's Privacy
Wans is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data,
please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent for push notifications (via your device settings)

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes
by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Wans after changes constitutes
acceptance of the updated policy.
